Scarcity explores the emotional weight of holding on. It reflects the fear that if we let go of a person, place, dream, or version of ourselves, we may never find safety, worth, or abundance again.

The Story Behind the Piece

Scarcity is about the tension between holding on and being free.

Sometimes letting go is hard because the thing in our hand is not just a thing. It has become tied to our identity, our sense of worth, our comfort, or our belief that we are still okay. We may know something is no longer healthy, aligned, or life-giving, but releasing it can feel like losing part of ourselves.

This painting speaks to the lie that we cannot start over. The fear that if we release what we have, there will be nothing waiting for us on the other side. Scarcity convinces us that we must grip tighter, even when our hands are tired. Even when what we are holding is hurting us.

The hand in this piece becomes a symbol of attachment, fear, survival, and surrender. It asks the viewer to consider what they may be holding onto out of fear rather than love.

What if letting go is not loss?

What if release is the beginning of room?
